Shared bikes have become a common scene in most cities. We take them to commute from work or wander about the streets. Have you imagined other uses of shared bikes?
Recently, a citizen in Yongzhou, Hunan province, filmed a short video, in which four "uncles" and "aunts" rode shared bikes tied to the ground, as if these bikes were gym equipment. In the video, they stepped on the bicycle pedal and kicked backwards with rhythm.
This behavior caused heated discussions online. Netizens expressed their different views.
One netizen said the bicycle chains may come off if kicked in the way as shown in the video, therefore shorten the service life of these bicycles.
"Even if using the bicycles this way doesn't make the bikes unusable, it makes it difficult for those that urgently need them," another commented.
Many netizens agreed that there is no need to take these bicycles since most communities already have fitness equipment.
Some saw business opportunity in the phenomenon. They suggested building fitness equipment that generates electricity, thus people could get exercise as well as provide electricity to the street lamp, which will save energy and protect the environment.
Some simply expressed their surprise at the "imagination" of the people in the video.
