our oceans,our responsibilities
June 8th was officially named by the UN in 2009 as World Oceans Day. Its purpose is to raise people’s awareness of marine conservation.
Covering over 70% of our planet, the ocean is home to million kinds of marine creatures. It also functions as a vital climate regulator to control the earth’s temperature, not to mention its indispensable role to our ocean-based economy.
Unfortunately, since the industrial revolution, human activities have pose a threat to the health of the world’s oceans. So it’s time for us, the human beings, to do something for our oceans. As a student, i think we can start from reducing the use of plastics. By working together, we can make a difference.
